Understanding Fraxel Treatment
Fraxel is a term derived from 'fractional,' referring to a technique where laser energy is applied locally in microscopic intervals, rather than across the entire skin surface.
This principle involves creating tiny microscopic channels in the skin to induce artificial stimulation, thereby helping to activate the skin's natural regeneration process.
This method of inducing partial damage can promote overall skin improvement while reducing the burden of recovery.
Comparing Ablative and Non-Ablative Fraxel
Ablative Fraxel: This finely removes the epidermal layer of the skin and delivers energy to the dermal-epidermal junction. This can directly help improve skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation, but may require a certain recovery period.
Non-Ablative Fraxel: This method maintains the epidermis while applying thermal stimulation to the dermis. Recovery can be faster, but the resulting effects may vary among individuals.
The Pico Fraxel used in our clinic is a non-ablative laser.
Fraxel Application Methods: Comparing DOE and MLA
Fraxel's energy delivery methods are broadly categorized into DOE (Diffractive Optical Element) and MLA (Microlens Array) techniques. The DOE method delivers laser energy uniformly across the entire treatment area, allowing for relatively stable application. However, due to limitations in output, the practitioner's expertise can be crucial for scar improvement.
In contrast, the MLA method concentrates strong energy in the central part and applies weaker energy to the surrounding areas. This is generally more suitable for improving deep scars.
A Message from Our Head Doctor
Every day, I treat patients with various skin conditions. Each individual's skin is unique, and even for the same person, their skin condition can differ daily.
During Fraxel treatments, I meticulously assess the skin's condition on the day of the procedure and delicately adjust the output and depth in 0.1 increments accordingly.
We strive to provide more accurate and safer treatments for our patients with every session.
The effectiveness of Fraxel treatment comes not just from the equipment, but from the medical team's delicate expertise.
We will wholeheartedly treat the patients who trust us and seek our care.

Post-Treatment Precautions
- ㆍRefrain from washing your face and applying makeup on the day of the treatment; gentle cleansing is possible from the next day.
- ㆍTip marks, redness, and pain in the treated area may persist for about 7 days; cooling management with ice packs can be helpful.
- If flaking occurs after treatment, avoid picking at it and allow it to shed naturally.
- ㆍUntil all dead skin has naturally fallen off, refrain from alcohol consumption, smoking, saunas, public baths, and swimming pools.
- ㆍThe period from post-treatment to 1-2 weeks after skin shedding is a skin regeneration period, so consistent application of a regenerative ointment is recommended.
- ㆍPay special attention to moisturizing for skin soothing, and it is crucial to apply sunscreen thoroughly when going out.

Q&A
Answers to the questions we hear most.
How painful is Pico Fractional treatment?
We apply an anesthetic cream before the procedure to minimize discomfort. However, you may feel a mild burning sensation in the treated area for a day or two.
When do scabs form after the procedure, and how long do they last?
Generally, tiny scabs begin to form 3-4 days after the procedure. They start to shed naturally after about a week, and can last for 1-2 weeks depending on the individual. Due to the nature of the treatment, temporary redness may accompany it, usually subsiding gradually within 1-2 weeks.
How long can redness persist?
Generally, redness after the procedure often improves after 1-2 weeks. However, if your skin is sensitive, dry, or has reduced regenerative capabilities, the redness might persist longer.
Can I wash my face or apply makeup immediately after Pico Fractional treatment?
On the day of the procedure, it's best to gently wash your face, avoiding the treated area. We recommend carefully starting makeup application from the next day.
What is the recommended treatment interval?
We usually recommend 3 to 5 sessions at 4-week intervals. Afterward, additional treatments can be considered every 3-6 months for maintenance.
When can I expect to notice changes after Pico Fractional treatment?
Collagen regeneration in the skin begins around 2-3 weeks after the procedure. You may feel your skin becoming firmer after about a month. For deep scars or enlarged pores, gradual improvement can be expected through multiple sessions.
Cautions
Results = Treatment × Aftercare. Please follow the notes below.
It is best to let any scabs that form on the treated area fall off naturally, rather than picking them.
Until the dead skin cells have completely shed, it is best to avoid activities that can irritate the skin, such as drinking alcohol, smoking, saunas, hot baths, and swimming.
Please be careful not to rub the treated area vigorously or irritate it unnecessarily.
