Sebaceous Hyperplasia, A Delicate Approach to Recurrence Management
If only the visible parts are improved, sebaceous hyperplasia can reappear.
Sebaceous hyperplasia is a skin lesion that occurs when sebaceous glands in the dermal layer of the skin abnormally enlarge or proliferate.
However, there are many procedures that only remove lesions appearing on the surface with a laser.
This approach may appear to be temporarily improved.
If the sebaceous glands themselves are not completely removed, there is a possibility of recurrence.
We are approaching this issue in a different way.
Our goal is to reduce the possibility of recurrence by removing visible lesions while simultaneously managing the underlying internal causes.
At our clinic, we don't just stop at improving the visible symptoms,
We manage both the underlying cause and the visible symptoms together to help you expect more satisfactory results.
To achieve this, we utilize two types of equipment together.
1. Secret Agnes RF (Insulated Radiofrequency 1-pin Needle)
By directly delivering radiofrequency energy to the area with sebaceous glands,
it helps to selectively coagulate the sebaceous glands and regulate their function.
Since an insulated needle is used, the risk of damage to the surrounding epidermis or other tissues can be reduced.
It is designed to act precisely only on the sebaceous glands.
This is a crucial part of managing the fundamental cause of sebaceous hyperplasia.
2. Er:YAG Laser (Erbium-YAG)
Compared to CO2 lasers, it allows for more delicate depth control,
which can help precisely refine protruding lesions.
The relatively low possibility of tissue damage is advantageous for faster recovery and can contribute to reducing the risk of scarring.
In some cases, a CO2 laser may be used together to effectively manage even deeply embedded lesions.
There is a difference in our approach compared to general simple removal procedures.
Ablation using only a CO2 laser primarily refines the superficial part of the lesion, but the sebaceous gland itself may remain, leading to a possibility of recurrence.
Procedures combining both types of equipment can help suppress the recurrence of sebaceous hyperplasia by regulating the function of the sebaceous glands themselves and refining surface lesions.
Characteristics of Sebaceous Hyperplasia
What is Sebaceous Hyperplasia?
Simply removing the surface may not be sufficient.
Managing both the skin's surface and the interior of the sebaceous glands together can be more effective in suppressing recurrence.
Are you experiencing these symptoms?
Small, round bumps appearing on the forehead, cheeks, and around the nose
A shape with a slightly indented center
Appears similar to acne or pimples, but nothing comes out when squeezed
Doesn't disappear over time and instead tends to increase in number
These symptoms may not be simple blemishes.
This could be *sebaceous hyperplasia*, which occurs due to excessive proliferation of sebaceous glands.

Q&A
Answers to the questions we hear most.
Why is parallel Agnes treatment recommended?
Syringoma and sebaceous gland hyperplasia are often related to sebaceous glands. Agnes treatment selectively targets these sebaceous glands, which can help reduce the possibility of recurrence.
What is the recovery period after the procedure?
It is recommended to apply a regenerative tape to the treated area for at least 2 weeks. Products like DuoDERM or DuoDERM gel can be used.
How much pain is there during the procedure?
Pain can vary from person to person. Before the procedure, we apply anesthetic cream to minimize discomfort.
