What makes Kkeut Clinic's Er:YAG Fraxel different?
Utilizes Er:YAG instead of CO2:
CO2 lasers can penetrate deeply into the skin, but they carry a relatively higher risk of heat-induced damage or hyperpigmentation.
In contrast, Er:YAG is a laser designed to precisely reach the epidermal-dermal junction while minimizing thermal damage.
Customized parameter adjustment to each individual's skin condition:
Instead of uniform machine settings, we adjust the depth and intensity of the treatment, considering the patient's skin thickness and condition.
By applying lower power and multiple overlapping treatments on thinner skin areas, and higher power in a single application on thicker areas, we minimize the potential for side effects.
Application of overlap technique:
For areas that require improvement, such as fine wrinkles, scars, or enlarged pores, we carefully adjust the treatment intensity by applying the laser multiple times.
Treatment is also possible on areas prone to fine wrinkles due to skin aging, such as the back of the hands or the neck. Even body parts that are usually considered difficult to treat are handled with individualized settings, meticulously considering the skin regeneration rate and sebaceous gland density.
Expect a synergistic effect with Fraxel through skin booster absorption promotion techniques:
Immediately after Fraxel treatment, the micro-channels created in the skin are open.
Therefore, Kkeut Clinic applies a protocol of applying skin boosters to the skin immediately after treatment, helping active ingredients to be effectively delivered to the dermis.
By customizing the degree and intensity of overlap for deep scars or various areas with different skin thicknesses, micro-channels are effectively created up to the dermal-epidermal junction.
When combining skin boosters with small particles, such as PDRN or Juvelook, regenerative ingredients can be better absorbed into the dermis through these channels. This can lead to positive effects in improving pores, fine wrinkles, and acne scars.
What is Fraxel?
Fraxel is a shortened term for 'Fractional Laser,' which works by irradiating specific areas with the laser in microscopic intervals, rather than the entire skin.
When the laser creates micro-holes in the skin and stimulates it, the skin responds by attempting to heal and regenerate itself.
This method of partial stimulation helps reduce the time required for skin recovery while also promoting overall skin condition improvement.
Difference between ablative and non-ablative Fraxel
Ablative Fraxel micro-removes the epidermis and delivers energy to the dermal junction, directly improving skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation. A certain recovery period may be necessary after the procedure.
Non-ablative Fraxel applies thermal stimulation to the dermis while leaving the epidermis intact. Recovery may be faster, but the improvement effects obtained may be relatively limited.
The Er:YAG Fraxel utilized at Kkeut Clinic falls under ablative lasers.
How Er:YAG Fraxel works
Er:YAG Fraxel is an ablative laser that uses a 2940nm wavelength, which reacts well with water in the skin.
This wavelength allows for precise vaporization and removal of tissue from the epidermis to the dermal junction. This can increase the accuracy of treatment depth control, reduce thermal damage to surrounding tissues, and aid in relatively faster recovery.
Instead of burning surrounding tissue, it instantaneously vaporizes water within the tissue for removal, which lowers the risk of hyperpigmentation and reduces skin burden.
Characteristics of DOE and MLA methods
The methods of irradiating Fraxel laser energy are largely divided into the DOE method and the MLA method. The DOE (Diffractive Optical Element) method is characterized by uniformly delivering laser energy to all points of the skin. While this method can reduce burden by stably dispersing energy, its output may be limited, making the practitioner's skill important for scar treatment.
Conversely, the MLA (Microlens Array) method delivers strong energy to the central part of the laser and weaker energy to the periphery. This can be advantageous for treating deep scars, but if energy is excessively concentrated in specific areas, the recovery time may be prolonged.
Expected effects of Er:YAG Fraxel treatment
The Er:YAG Fraxel used at Kkeut Clinic irradiates energy using the DOE method,
which helps to uniformly deliver energy to the entire treatment area, reducing the burden on the skin.
This uniform energy delivery method can be advantageous for improving pores, fine wrinkles, and skin texture. Additionally, concerns such as acne scars can expect satisfying changes through the use of the overlap technique.
Collagen and Elastin Regeneration: Laser treatment removes damaged skin cells and stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis to induce the production of new collagen and elastin. This can help improve skin density and elasticity, and make the skin texture smoother.
Pore Contraction Effect: As the collagen tissue around the pores is reorganized and contracts, enlarged pores can shrink, contributing to a more refined appearance of the skin surface.
Acne Scar Remodeling: Old scar tissue gradually breaks down, and new collagen tissue forms in its place, leading to an expected improvement in bumpy skin texture, making it smoother.
Er:YAG Fraxel Research Evidence
Serdar ZA et al. Dermatol Ther. 2019:
A study of 333 patients with facial and neck wrinkles
Undergoing 3-4 sessions of Erbium YAG Fraxel can help improve skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
Robati RM et al. J Cosmet Dermatol. 2020:
This treatment is suitable for those who wish to improve facial pores or fine lines.
Some individuals experience changes in fine lines after just one session, but individual differences may occur.
Pore tightening is expected after 3 or more sessions, and results are sometimes observed to last relatively long.
A Message from the Chief Director
We examine the skin of various individuals every day. We understand that each person's skin, and even the same person's skin, has different conditions daily.
True to its name, Fraxel requires precision to adjust the laser's output and depth down to 0.1 units according to the skin condition on that day.
With this in mind, we approach each treatment, striving for a more precise and safe procedure.
For Fraxel treatments, in addition to high-performance equipment, the delicate skill of the medical staff is a crucial factor.
We will do our best to live up to the trust you place in us by choosing our clinic.

Q&A
Answers to the questions we hear most.
How painful is the Erbium Fraxel treatment?
We apply an anesthetic cream before the procedure to minimize discomfort. However, you may feel a mild burning sensation in the treated area for a day or two.
When do scabs form after the procedure, and how long do they last?
Generally, tiny scabs begin to form 3-4 days after the procedure. They start to shed naturally after about a week, and can last for 1-2 weeks depending on the individual. Due to the nature of the treatment, temporary redness may accompany it, usually subsiding gradually within 1-2 weeks.
How long can redness persist?
Generally, redness after the procedure often improves after 1-2 weeks. However, if your skin is sensitive, dry, or has reduced regenerative capabilities, the redness might persist longer.
Is it possible to wash my face or apply makeup immediately after Erbium Fraxel treatment?
Avoid washing your face and applying makeup on the day of treatment. From the next day, cleanse gently without irritating the treated area and resume makeup cautiously according to your skin condition.
What is the recommended treatment interval?
We usually recommend 3 to 5 sessions at 4-week intervals. Afterward, additional treatments can be considered every 3-6 months for maintenance.
When can I expect to feel changes after Erbium Fraxel treatment?
Collagen regeneration in the skin begins around 2-3 weeks after the procedure. You may feel your skin becoming firmer after about a month. For deep scars or enlarged pores, gradual improvement can be expected through multiple sessions.
Cautions
Results = Treatment × Aftercare. Please follow the notes below.
It is best to let any scabs that form on the treated area fall off naturally, rather than picking them.
Until the dead skin cells have completely shed, it is best to avoid activities that can irritate the skin, such as drinking alcohol, smoking, saunas, hot baths, and swimming.
Please be careful not to rub the treated area vigorously or irritate it unnecessarily.
